Pediatric Speech Therapy at Speak Easy Solutions- What can we treat with your child?
It is the job of our speech therapists to help children who have problems eating, speech and speech disorders. Causes for this can be, for example, neurological disorders, genetic and physical malformations, hearing disorders or psychological problems.
Early advice and treatment
Even in early infancy, early speech
therapy counseling and treatment can initiate the basic functions of the mouth,
i.e. sucking, swallowing and chewing, or support them in their further
development.
Children with lip, jaw, palate and
nose malformations are examined by our pediatric speech therapy with regard to these basic functions and their parents are
advised accordingly. Children with genetic diseases, such as Down syndrome,
often need early help too.
Language development delays and
pronunciation disorders
Another important area of work in
speech therapy is the therapy of children with speech development delays and
pronunciation disorders. Oriented towards everyday activities, our speech
therapists improve language comprehension and sentence structure in a playful
way.
The vocabulary is expanded,
previously malformed sounds are properly initiated and consolidated until they
are adopted into spontaneous speech.
Acoustic perception
In addition to optical perception,
our speech therapists particularly
promote acoustic perception, i.e. recognize and differentiate between what is
heard, and auditory memory. In the treatment of stuttering and rumbling
children, we are working on a more fluent, fear-free way of speaking. When children
feel nasal (rhinophonia) for organic or functional reasons, we use soft palate
activation methods to normalize the tone of their voice.
Advice to parents, educators and
teachers
We attach great importance to
advising parents, educators and teachers. For this reason, the presence of the
parents during the therapy is expressly desired, as they will be involved in
the treatment and professionally instructed.
The parents should be informed and
sensitized in order to understand the child's swallowing or speech disorder, to
support them in eating or in their language development and to be able to carry
out exercises at home.
